Fukuoka Sumo Guide is an independent guide to the Kyushu Basho, the grand sumo tournament held every November in Fukuoka. We help travellers from all over the world understand how tickets work, which seat to choose, which tours are worth it and how to fit a sumo day into a trip to Kyushu — in eight languages.
How we work
- Dates, prices and ticketing rules come from the official channels of the Japan Sumo Association (Ticket Oosumo) and are re-checked before each tournament.
- We only recommend tickets and tours that can actually be booked, and we state clearly what they include — and what they don’t.
- Prices are given as indicative ranges with the date they were checked; the price on the booking page always prevails.
- We warn against risky options, such as resold tickets, even when they would be easy to promote.
- Our rankings are editorial: no operator pays to be listed or ranked.
Independence
Fukuoka Sumo Guide is not affiliated with the Japan Sumo Association, the Fukuoka Kokusai Center or any sumo stable. Names of tournaments, venues and wrestlers are used for information only.
Affiliate disclosure
Some links on this site are affiliate links to GetYourGuide. If you book through them, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes our recommendations — we also explain how to buy official tickets directly, which earns us nothing.
